THIRD CONSULTATIONS BETWEEN THE FOREIGN MINISTRIES OF MONGOLIA AND SINGAPORE HELD

The third consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore were held in Singapore on 23 September 2026.

The consultations were co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs G. Amartuvshin on the Mongolian side and Deputy Secretary(Asia Pacific) Mr Kevin Cheok on the Singaporean side.

The two sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations, upcoming visits and events, and priority areas for cooperation. They discussed ways to strengthen political dialogue, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and investment, and build on Mongolia’s experience in adapting Singapore’s development practices. The Mongolian side expressed appreciation for the training and capacity-building opportunities provided to approximately 2,000 Mongolian public officials in fields including public administration, education and healthcare under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.

The two sides also discussed increasing exchanges between their foreign ministries and arranging reciprocal opportunities for junior and mid-career diplomats to learn from each other’s experience. The Mongolian side proposed establishing links between the two countries’ diplomatic academies.

Both sides noted that the intergovernmental agreement on carbon market cooperation entered into force in August 2026. They observed that the agreement offers opportunities to expand cooperation on carbon markets and green finance and to develop a green economy partnership.

Both sides also noted their active cooperation within the United Nations and other international organisations, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to addressing challenges arising from the geopolitical situation and deepening cooperation at the international and regional levels.
